Azkatraz! Oh man I still can't believe what a fantastic weekend that was. Seriously I can't remember the last time I had that much fun. (Okay, that's a lie. I had that much fun on my AI concert extravaganza last summer/fall and at Comic-Con last year. Also times spent with kick ass fangirls (and boy!) doing things that I love. Coincidence? I THINK NOT.)
I'm going to try and remember all the greatness but uh. it's been a few weeks and I've slept since then. :)
Friday:
- met up with
cathybites and
glockgal at hotel. went up to room. saw
xterm before she headed out to some sort of social activity that we shunned. hung out and ate pizza and babbled a lot about Star Trek and Chris Pine's face (see also: whole damn weekend! \o/)
- kicked it until
tbranch got there.
- at some point in the proceedings
dramedy got back from the Wizard Wrock thingy. she may have been slightly um. impaired. but she still managed to dig out of her bag a present that she made for me:
( you know you're jealous of my fly ass Mary Sue notebook! )
Saturday:
- hung out in gallery. admired ridiculously good art.
- was this the day we got doughnuts? if it was, it was yummy!
- welcome feast. tasty and I got to be
glockgal for the duration of lunch.
- uh. stuff and things? yeah I don't remember.
- but I think this is the night we went to Thai food. and I had delicious eggplant.
- and then
rivers_bend was there! and we talked about Star Trek. and how people should be shipping Kirk/McCoy and Sulu/Chekov. otherwise they are wrong on the internet and real life!
- karaoke! which was both awesome and sucky. awesome in that drinks were decently priced and it was a fun bar that we went to. sucky in that
cathybites did not get to sing and
glockgal managed to injure herself while performing. but awesome because
longleggedgit was there and that is always good times my friends. (and she rocks the starfleet shirt like no other!)
Sunday:
-
tbranch and I went to the Cartoon Art Museum, which was brilliant. it was the last day for the Watchmen exhibit and the opening weekend of the Sleeping Beauty exhibit, both of which were awesome. the artwork for Sleeping Beauty was absolutey gorgeous. it's probably my very favorite Disney movie so that made me happy. the Watchmen exhibit was from the movie, props and costumes and holy crap the level of detail in those things was AMAZING. made me want to watch the movie again.
- after that we met up with
karasu_hime and a bunch of other people (I suck at getting lj names) and ended up going to sushi for lunch where I proceeded to stuff my face. NOM NOM NOM SUSHI IS MY FAAAAVORITE.
- a little while later we accompanied the rest of the gang to the food court at the mall where they ate Korean BBQ (it smelled so gooood) and we had smoothies because seriously I ate a lot of sushi.
- was there an art panel on this day? I think there was. the one with the live drawing? if so it was awesome. the thing about me going to HP cons is that all of my friends are fan artists. which means I go to the art panels. even though I can't draw to save my life. and it leads to people asking me things like "what do you do?" and I kind of babble that I'm just there to hang out with my friends. which I feel is a valid lifestyle choice.
- this was the night of the ball so we all got fancified and headed down. ARGH FANDOM NEMISIS. (ok see it's funny because I'm not even IN HP fandom and I've managed to acquire a nemesis. mostly because of the con three years ago when she snubbed me hard core because I'm not an artist, nor do I do anything that she deemed worthy. the hilarious part? I don't even know her name! oh me.) anyway! we all dance and have a good time before
glockgal and I decide we've had enough and head back to the room. more discussion of Chris Pine's face. I'm sure I turned the conversation to Karl a few thousand times as well. it's all good.
-
tbranch returns from the ball. the three of us start to watch The Chronicles of Riddick. (YAY KARL!) all three of us fall asleep.
Monday:
- um. more panels I think? maybe. YES.
- Star Trek meet up. good times.
-
glockgal and I go over to the mall again for lunch. Korean BBQ for her and SHOCKER! sushi for me.
- possibly more panels? I think.
- I honest to god can't remember what we did Monday night. OH! WAIT. HOW COULD I FORGET. Monday night was the Drink and Draw! oh fan artists! you truly are the people to hang out with. ♥ it's just what it sounds like. everyone drinks and draws stuff for each other. or for people who can't draw! yay! (and I drew an awesome stick figure drawing from HP and the Chamber of Secrets for... um. I have no idea what her name was. but she seemed to appreciate it. MY SKILLZ. LET ME SHOW YOU THEM. or not.)
( my friends are too good to me! )
- after the Drink and Draw we walked over to Mel's Diner for a late dinner. mmmmmmm. spent part of the walk over chatting with
lizardspots who is one of the sweetest people I have ever met. seriously.
Tuesday:
- oh noes last day! packed up before going to closing breakfast.
- started saying goodbyes to people. booooooooo.
- hung out in hotel bar almost like we were grown ups. except for all the talk about Chris Pine's face.
- STAR TREK. a bunch of us headed over to the movie theater and watched Star Trek together which I believe is what everyone at a Harry Potter con should be doing. yes.
- time to go. booooooooooo. although
glockgal has flight at same time so we go to airport together. yay!
- actually have flights that are not only at same time, but are only two gates apart. YAY. talk on phone briefly with
bossymarmalade who was sorely missed. NEXT YEAR LADY!
- have final conversation about Chris Pine's face.
the entire weekend was an absolute blast and there were many more people that I didn't mention that were in and out of all the activities and were awesome like
fiendling,
cunningplan,
scarah2 and lots of other peoples that seriously I suck about getting lj names. but trust me. EVERYONE IS AWESOME.
and then to round it all out, I had asked
glockgal to draw me, Jim and Bones on the Enterprise because I'm a demanding whore and my friends are seriously way too good to me. ( I'M A BAMF. LOOK AT THIS SHIT. )
