oh dear god this is just. yeah. and actually the sex (which is stupidly hot) isn't the best thing. the best thing is the way Steve and Kono are with each other, both before and after. there's so much more just simmering below the surface and it makes me want more between these two. plus Steve is still a dork and Kono is awesome as always.

He takes a long drink of his beer, his throat flexing and relaxing, and Kono makes herself look away. There's walking the edge, and then there's criminally stupid, and wondering what her boss might sound like if she bit him under the jaw is such a bad idea she can't even begin to go there. It doesn't help that she knows he hasn't missed a thing.

I had never actually even thought about this pairing before because well usually I'm reading about Darcy with Clint or Loki and Steve is pretty much always paired with Tony. but yes. Steve and Darcy. new favs yo. Darcy is tasked with bringing Cap into modern times and inbetween history lessons and showing him how modern girls drink, Darcy falls for refreshingly not totally old fashioned Steve. the author writes Steve with just the right blend of old fashioned values and the willingness to embrace the modern world that sets it up for a Steve Rogers that would absolutely have his first time be with Darcy.

“It’s like my legacy,” Darcy tells him. “I could teach you every single thing there is to know about the whole world today, and I’d still just be Jane’s assistant who tasered Thor that one time. But Jane hit him with a car, so.”

Steve laughs again, the sound loud and warm and happy. “It’s good to have a legacy,” he says, and for the first time he doesn’t look like he suspects this whole set up with her to be some sort of trap.

“You should know, right,” she says automatically, and then immediately wishes she could take it back, because that’s probably kind of insensitive to say to a guy who is more legacy than real person at the moment, trying to discover what it’s like to have a life again. She puts her glasses back on to hide the flustered feeling.

“I have a shield, you have your taser,” Steve says. He smiles. Darcy definitely looks at that smile for a few seconds longer than is necessary, but Darcy is also only human. “We all need something.”
