- I cried at so many things that if I didn't know myself better I would say that I was out of tears. But no. Oh no. I'll probably start crying while recapping things because I am just that ridiculous.
- Hedwig! That made me so SAD! And then BOOM! Mad-Eye was gone. And George's ear! (and how perfect was the whole 'saintlike' gag. LOVE THEM.)
- OH! I really like that Dudley thanked Harry for saving him. No it doesn't redeem anything that any of the Dursley's have done to Harry over the years, but I like that JKR showed that growth was possible, even in someone like Dudley.
- Kreacher was awesome. I had read something in Entertainment Weekly that JKR had told the filmmakers that they needed leave Kreacher in OotP. Now we know why. I like that all the house elf shenanigans of the past books finally came together. I never really like Dobby (more on that later), S.P.E.W. annoyed me, but it was all necessary because when Kreacher lead all the house elves at the end to fight against Voldemort and the Death Eaters I started to cry. AGAIN.
- I swear I stopped breathing when Ron left.
- Godric's Hollow was awesome. The graveyard scene didn't actually make me cry (shocking I know) but seeing the memorials to Lily, James and Harry was just fantastic.
- When the Nagini came out of Bathilda? HOLY SHIT THAT WAS SCARY.
- I really like the dark side of Dumbledore. Or I like that he has one. Okay we all knew he had one, I just liked that he just as fucked up as anyone. Well done, JKR.
- Ron's return was PERFECT. "Are... you... mental?" ahahahaha. Oh Ronald. ♥
- Oh! And Ron being the one to destroy the Horcrux was awesome. (yes, I'm aware I'm over using that word. Just wait until I get to Neville!)
- Hermionie's reaction to Ron returning? yes. you guessed it. AWESOME. Of course she's pissed! I like that JKR didn't take that to be the big hook-up moment, which it definitely could have been since Ron returned as the conquering hero.
- Bellatrix will always be the scariest! ALWAYS!
- I really like how the Malfoys were treated in this book. Wait. That sounds all wrong. What I like is that it showed that Voldemort doesn't give a shit about loyalty if you screw up. Lucius was one of his biggest supporters but when things went wrong - through no actual fault of Lucius - Voldemort still cast him aside. And I think it was [livejournal.com profile] smartlikejustin who mentioned that when it came down to it, Lucius and Narcissa were just like James and Lily. All they wanted was to protect their son.
- I still think Draco is a prat though.
- Okay so. Dobby dying got me in ways I never would have thought. I never liked Dobby. But holy shit. And Harry digging the grave? Oh man.
- I didn't mind the whole Gringotts plot. I was just wondering the other day if there were ever any dragon-riders in the HP 'verse. Heh. There are now. ♥
- I love that Harry was right. There was a horcrux at Hogwarts.
- I love that fandom was right. Harry was a horcrux.
- I love that what pushed to Harry reveal himself was someone dared disrepect Professor McGonagall
- Speaking of, Professor McGonagall was fucking awesome. Just. From the moment she sent her patronus to rouse the other professors to the very end... AWESOME. did it mention what happened to her after? I'm just gonna assume that she became Headmaster. because... YES.
- Okay. NEVILLE LONGBOTTOM PWNS EVERYTHING EVER. From his entrance, to the fact that he kept the DA going, to his utter awesomeness, to the moment where he pulled out the sword and killed Nagini(!!!!!) he was made of absolute awesome. I was terrified that he was going to bite it in this book and I'm so glad that he didn't. (Professor Longbottom!!!! OMHART!)
- Snape dying actually made me sad. And even more so after we saw his memories. Eveything he's ever done is because he loved Lily beyond anything else. No wonder he couldn't stand the child that she had with someone else. He would protect Harry, because Lily would have wanted it that way, but he could never like the boy who was the image of the man who took away everything. Yeah, this book really really made me like Snape, which is something none of the other books could do. (And this is where there is a big seperation in the books and movies for me because while I never liked Snape in the books... I love him in the movies. Oh Alan Rickman. ♥)
- Man the fight in Hogwarts was awesome and Percy coming back was great. I loved that Fred and George welcomed him back, no questions, as soon as Percy admitted he was an idiot.
- Neville's grandmother FTW!
- I love that the story of the ghosts was even intertwined into the big picture.
- FRED! I can't believe she killed off one of the twins. HOW CAN THE OTHER SURVIVE? *sobs*
- Remus and Tonks dying threw me a bit too. But it was just so harsh and after Fred I was kinda numb.
- Although apparently in the afterlife Remus goes back to Sirius. Heh. That was a great scene.
- oh man the scene in the forest with Harry playing dead and Narcissa and just. !!!!
- MOLLY WEASLEY FOR THE MOTHER FUCKING WIN!!
- the epilogue. I've read a lot of reactions of people who thought it felt 'pastede on yaye' but I thought it was good. Professor Longbottom! Harry/Ginny! Hermionie/Ron. The kids! The utter ridiculousness of naming your son Albus Severus. It was just. It felt right.

- I love that the story is over but the universe is still so wide open for fic, art, speculation, etc. I think that may have been JKR's final gift to the fans.

- Very amused at the number of posts that started with 'omg it took so long to read.' Um... it's been like 2 days. You see... out in the real world that isn't very long. :D

- Went to see OotP again today with my mom who hadn't seen it yet. Um. I cried when I saw Hedwig. I cried when I saw Mad-Eye. I quitly sobbed when Fred and George appeared. I hadn't gotten to the part in the book with Remus and Tonks or I'm sure I would have bawled at them too.

- This is hands down my favorite book and I can't wait until they get to this movie. Oh yes.

I have SO much love for this book. I mean, dude, she reunited Remus & Sirius. *draws hearts* McGonagall led the DESKS into battle!!! Flitwick became a badass!!! And Neville, oh, Neville...

I didn't expect I'd be sad at all to see the last of Dobby, but I started crying so hard when he died.

And I loved the epilogue!!! I have no idea why people hate it so much or why they felt it was 'like fanfic'. I mean, hello, hi, it's HER world!!! If she wants to write a small ode of love to her OWN characters to let us know where they are & what they're up to, then she has every right & I thought it was beautifully done. (And you just know that James' middle name is Sirius. *g*)

This is one of my favorite things about DH-- the greyishness of Dumbledore, that for once Rita Skeeter was mostly correct. And Harry being mature enough to accept it.

YES. Harry being mature enough to accept it was what really got me. I was just so pleased with all of it. Like I knew he wouldn't intentionally mistreat his sister, but I like that he wasn't totally blameless as well. And that it haunted him through the rest of this life. Yay for shades of grey! :)

I NEVER GET TIRED OF READING THESE...as long as they agree with me. HA HA!

but, yes, EVERYTHING YOU SAID. Although I wasn't as pleased with the epilogue. or, well, I kind of was? Like, it had all the ingredients for me to love it (ie, everything you mentioned), and if I look at them individually I think they're GREAT, but something just felt off. I don't know what. Maybe I just wanted to know more about other people?

I would actually agree that the epilogue was too short. Was Neville married? was McGonagall Headmaster? did Seamus and Dean ever declare their love for one another? THESE ARE VERY IMPORTANT MATTERS.

yeah. I still can't believe that she killed Fred. a co-worker is currently reading the book and she loves the twins and everytime she says something about them I just have to keep quiet because OMG FRED. *sigh*
