Please stop wailing and gnashing your teeth over the loss of constant canon for these two. Write fic, be creative, use the approx. 89 gazillion hours of footage that you've gotten over the past 6 months. There will be more in the future. They're all good friends. Plus 19E will keep pitting them against each other at every possible opportunity. It'll be okay.

Yes sometimes Michael is photographed without his wedding ring. I hate to throw a little reality on the proceedings, but neither of my parents wear a ring and they have been married for 38 years. So. You know. It probably means something in the neighborhood of nothing and nada.

you know, I really kinda love this fandom because for the most part it's pretty chill and semi-sane (as far as any fandom can be) but there are times when I'm just. really? REALLY?

the thing that kills me is that there is PLENTY of material to work with in the case of those two [the canon expands like the universe every time they're in the same room]. it is so not necessary to invent ridiculous things like promise rings.

...maybe sometimes he just forgets to put it back on after taking it off. I know a lot of people who don't sleep with their wedding rings on, just like they don't sleep with their shoes on, because it's uncomfortable. And, no, the fact that he occasionally forgets to put it back on, no matter what sitcom logic would have you believe, does not mean OMG MAVID BUTTSECKS. I'm a lifer, but sometimes fandom makes me want to peek through my fingers.

Um, not only does the crazy ring speculation wrt Archie freak me out a little bit (I am still, after two and a half years, not entirely settled into my RPF skin) in terms of examining every single aspect of someone's life. Plus, David might get all het up over internet cliques of all things (oh, you dear boo), but the only way that he would ever give Archie a promise ring would be as an enormous joke.

(Which Archie would probably still wear, out of his weird little sense of humor or because it's JUST GOOD MANNERS OKAY and not entirely realize what the ring meant until David stopped being even that level of subtle.)

(Someone needs to write that fic. If for nothing else than TONGUE IN CHEEK COMEDY GOLD.)

I just. it's like OMG THEY LOOKED AT EACH OTHER THEY'RE TOTALLY DOING IT. *sigh* and yeah the ring thing. there are so many SANE reasons as to why he's not wearing it. plus, I don't even notice these things until fandom starts spazzing about it. it's always a picture or video clip that I've already looked at and I have to go back all 'bzuh?' because really? that's what you choose to notice? um. okay.
