staring at a ceiling full of stars
Aug. 15th, 2009 09:18 pmhahahah. okay. so remember last night when I was going to go to bed by 9. ahahahaha. yeah.
that didn't happen. some my fault (Criminal Minds marathon on A&E... although still went to bed by 11.) some of it not my fault in that I just. couldn't. sleep. eventually feel asleep somewhere around 1.
which was a problem since I had to get up at 4am.
somehow I managed that, got dressed and was out the door a little before 5 which was right on track to meet up with co-workers in Flagstaff so we could do this cancer walk climb thingy. first stop was to get gas which went a little more complicated than intended when the card reader on the machine was full of fail. finally got it to work. then as I'm driving through one town over I get a traffic cone wedged under my truck. okay let me explain. there is a bunch of road construction going on and there are cones directing the traffic down to one lane rather than two. ok. no problem. so you know there are cones on both sides of the road. still got it covered. except there was also a cone right in the middle of the road! there was no way to avoid it. and because my life is the way it is, I couldn't just hit it with my tire or something. no no. I had to hit it dead center and for it to wedge under my truck. so I freaked out while having visions of my truck catching on fire or something before pulling over to see if I could get it out. this involved me wiggling under my truck and pushing and pulling and swearing and FINALLY getting the damn thing out of there. yeah. this at like 5:20AM. I was soooo not awake enough for this shit.
fortunately that was the end of the catastrophes. got up to Flagstaff, met up with friends, and started the walk. the weather was BEAUTIFUL. nice and cool and actually almost cold in the shade so that you didn't overheat at all while walking. I made it about 4 of the 7 miles before my body said 'uh.' and for once I actually listened to it instead of just pushing on. which is good because I am really sore now. I can't even imagine how much I would hurt if I had done more!
then I drove home (which OMG SO TIRED. was singing very loud and having imaginary conversations with Chris Pine to stay awake. what?)
and because this will also not be the weekend I don't fuck up sleep patterns... I took a nap from like 3-7. ahahahaha. *facepalm*

on 2009-08-16 05:06 am (UTC)I walked 4 miles today, too, but not for a good cause. And split into two two mile segments. So not the same at all, except for how my legs hurt also. chris pine was worth it, though ;)

on 2009-08-16 05:37 am (UTC)and I did. she was grateful when I finally said we should stop. SW and one of MB's sons booked it up the hill. like it took them just under two hours to get to the top. RIDICULOUS. it was a good time.
