within the fragile substance of my soul

saw Brave last night.
I really liked it. I was wary, mostly because Pixar finally has a female lead and the big point of her story is that she's a female did not leave me with warm fuzzy feelings. more grrr argh hulk smash type feelings. but what it really is about is family and learning to understand one another. which was beautiful and I pretty much cried for the last half hour of it. and maybe wished that I could have seen it with my mom. also the brothers were so adorable.
before the movie the trailer for The Hobbit played and oh. I'd seen it online already but that was the first time I saw it on the big screen I think. and really the only way I can think of to describe how it made me feel was... it felt like I was coming home. which is so cheesy but true. so there you go. (I really should to get my ass to New Zealand one day.)
tomorrow is the creature!Benedict version of Frankenstein. headed down to Phoenix with
ladybugg7 for lunch before and then Frankenstein followed by an explosion of feels and maybe some shopping and dinner before heading back up the mountain.

on 2012-06-24 06:39 am (UTC)I saw JLM-as-creature last week and got super, super bummed that I couldn't make it to any of the BC-as-creature showings. But, like...I'm actually not sure I could handle seeing him be, like, mean. Or, well, mean in a different way than he is as Victor. Because I am a goob. ANYWAY tldr make sure to tell us what you thiiiiink.

on 2012-06-25 07:58 pm (UTC)However, this could be tainted by the fact that I saw CreatureBatch first, and because everything was new, it was better. But I still feel the opening act was much more involving and heart-wrenching with Benedict. Plus, I felt like JLM kept missing his marks as the Creature and had to hurry to catch up, while Benedict just naturally arrived at where he needed to be.
I'm looking forward to your opinion since you saw them in the opposite order. I wish I'd seen them in your order, so it'll be interesting to see if your opinion differs or not.
