so. there's some wank. in a fandom I'm not even in. and yet it's all over the fucking place so I felt compelled to see what the big deal was. (and thank you to apetslife and mcee for actually talking about the wank and not just making cryptic posts about the wank. those usually make my head hurt worse than the wank. and to own up to my past hypocrisy, I totally used to make those kind of cryptic posts back in popslash days. I now look at those posts and have NO IDEA WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT.)

anyway. faux-homos? gay for play? I. um. WHAT.

honestly, I only got part way through phaballa's post. my viewpoint is just so wildly different from hers that I didn't think I needed to continue reading something that was akin to bashing my head against the wall. (don't know her, not making judgements on her, just saying I don't agree AT ALL.)

I too can count myself a card carrying member of the queer nation, IF I THOUGHT THAT WAS THE MOST IMPORTANT PART OF MY IDENTITY. good lord people. there are a number of things that I could list that make up who I am. and each one of those things come complete with the assholes who are against or will otherwise put down. the fact that I'm bisexual is just one of many things that people can hate me for.

as for the boys of emo rockbands playing at gay? there are a couple of things that bother me about labeling it this way.

1. if Pete Wentz wants to kiss Patrick Stump during a show... SO WHAT. it is well known that they are BFF and just because one man kisses another doesn't make it "gay." also, what would be the advantage of "playing" gay. you think actual gay men can't see through that and are being lured into becoming Fall Out Boy or My Chemical Romance fans? please.

2. the notion that they can "play gay" and then return to the "safety" of being straight is one of the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. you think some bigoted asshole is going to make the distinction that Gerard Way isn't really gay before he beats the crap out of him. oh. oh. you're faux-gay. move along then.

3. if. IF. if they are actually "playing gay" then really... what's the harm. and no it is not the same as black face. and I think other people have said the same thing, that hi. popular musicians are showing their fans that affection, whether it is "gay" or not, between males is an okay thing. I just can't see the bad here.

4. just because Panic! at the Disco all wear girl's clothing (except maybe Jon Walker) doesn't MEAN ANYTHING. other than questionable fashion taste. :)

so yeah. there's that. also, I'm not sure if I'm impressed or horrified that I know all these people's names.

in other news, my dad is back in the hospital. but I don't want to think about it which is why I'm letting myself get drawn into wank for a fandom I'm not even in.

thank you baby. he seems to be doing okay. he'll be coming home on Monday. and then hopefully we can go more than 4 months without him landing his ass in the hospital. *SIGH*
