- woke up this morning with the mother of all migraines. last night's dinner made a return engagement and I crawled back into bed with hopes of death. while that did not happen, fitful sleep until most of the pain was gone and finally real sleep. (in which I had a bizarre dream featuring doing my laundry and Sean Bean wanting me to listen to his iPod and asking me out to dinner. um. oookay.) the real downside of all this was that I missed the cancer walk up in Flagstaff this morning. I think I would have been okay to do the walk, but there was no way I could drive myself up there. bah.

- ran some errands and while I was out, just for the heck of it, went by Barnes and Noble. this is the store that my mom managed while my parents were still living here. I called my mom as I was leaving the store because I knew she would love this. as I told her, I was able to perfectly sum up in one sentence what the store is like now that she is gone. Sylvia Plath is in the sci-fi section. *facepalm*

- 8 MOTHERFUCKING GOLD MEDALS!!!!! I was jumping up and down in my living room cheering like a crazy person.

also Dara Torres is my hero. if anyone tries to say she failed in any way because she got silver I will punch them in the face. she's totally amazing.

Okay, does anyone else remember the puff pieces they did on the Sydney Olympics and showed what it was like in Athlete's Village and they went to the health center and there was this GIANT glass fishbowl full of condoms with all the colors of the Olympic rings? That they had to CONSTANTLY refill? And the girl behind the counter was all, "Yeah, the athletes go digging through looking for the colors of their country. They're all very patriotic."

I think that may be my favorite piece of Olympic trivia ever. I await its appearance in fic.

hahahahah that's fantastic! I didn't pay much attention to the Sydney Olympics and for the life of me I can't remember why not. hmmmm. but yes. that definitely needs to be in a fic. :)

I don't know how any of those guys handle the real world afterwards. Like, Athlete's Village is like a whole city full of young, beautiful, fit, sucessful people from every corner of the globe, packed into dorms, where, apparently, they have SEX ALL THE TIME. (And also drink like fish, according to a guy I met who worked security at the Salt Lake City games.)

I would just sob nonstop during the closing ceremonies.
