WEEKEND OF AWESOME part 2
Sep. 7th, 2008 01:58 amDay One: OKC
livehead16 and I roll into KC around 5am. we're both pretty much zombies at this point and we just kinda trudge up to the room. it doesn't take long before we both pass out. surprisingly we're both up by 10ish. we kick around the idea of going to hang out by the buses, but
livehead16 opts to stay in out of the sun. for she is much smarter than I am. at some point she glances out our window and starts laughing. oh yeah. the buses are totally parked right outside our hotel. heh.
I decide that I'm going to brave the buses even though I know Cook probably won't show (he didn't) since he had tons of press to do and he was HOME. ♥ Plus I've decided I want the Idols to sign my laptop so off I go.
I walk out the front door and there is Dave the security guy and Ramiele. *snort* oh yeah. they are definitely staying in the same hotel. I wander down to the barricades where there is no shade anywhere to be found and find a spot to sneak in between two older women. one of them was lovely and the other one scared the hell out of me. mostly I was bored without my girls but I was determined to wait it out and see who I could see. also I was hoping against hope that Michael would come out today (sadly, twas not to be, although he did run out real quick for a moment but he was on a mission and then ran back in.)
so random amusing moment. there's a guy standing across the street from the venue who bears a passing resemblance to David Cook at around week 2 or 3 or AI. and all he's doing is hanging out against the building waiting for people to notice him. I saw some girls go over and talk to him and take pictures. why you want pictures with faux!David I don't know, but there you go. heh.
so KLC comes out first and I get her to sign my laptop and tell her that she was awesome in OKC. she's very gracious and smiles all pretty and I can't lie, I think my heart thudded in my chest a little. *SIGH*
Jason is next and again I think he might be the spaciest boy in existance but he signs my laptop and is generally very sweet so you know. *thumbs up*
Brooke came out and got stopped one person away from me and told she had to go back in. Boooooo. she felt SO BAD about having to leave. she kept asking if she could just sign a few more things and the security people were like 'no Brooke you have to go now.' she's so sweet.
then Archie makes his way down the line. I'm wearing a t-shirt that has a little stick figure drawing wearing a red cape and the text reads "I am my own hero." I thought it was cute. so I'm having Archie sign my laptop and I ask him how he's feeling today (since he'd been coughing during the show the night before) and he answers that he's feeling really good (lies, all lies) and then he reads my shirt and asks what is means. I'm thinking 'really? really you can't figure out what that means?' but in the meantime he has looked up at my face and I could see the moment when he recognized me. he smiles really big and kinda laughs and says "OH HAI!" I smile and laugh in return and then he says something like "you made it up here" and I say something about how yes we drove all night, and frankly I'm shocked that he didn't launch into song at that point. then he tells me that it's good to see me again and I'm telling you. BFF.
he moves down the line and he's humming the theme from Indiana Jones and just generally being totally adorable. someone comments on his eyes, I didn't hear exactly what they said but then I hear him say "guyliner? no! that's Cook's thing." oh bless. I stay a few more mintues to watch him work the line and then decide that I'm going to die in the heat so I head back to the room.
after meeting up with
renaberena, her sister and
dreamerren we headed over to the arena. I had bought my tickets seperate from the girls who had seats pretty much the same as we had the night before in OKC. my seat was row 12 in the center on the aisle on the Mavid side of the stage. only when I got there, row 12 was really row 4. awesome!
the show starts and as always Chikezie is on fire. I love the energy of his set. so fun. at some point I realize there is no one in the row in front of me and I start thinking that if no one shows up soon then I'm totally moving up. however as Ramiele comes out to start her set there are a bunch of people milling about next to me. at first I'm annoyed until I look and realize who is going to be sitting in front of me. they all file into the row and directly in front of me is David Cook's mom. all I could think was "hi mama!" which is what I would shout at my tv screen whenever they would show her. Andrew was also in front of me two people down. HE IS A DORK. ♥ so here is what I learned about David's family. Beth? loves her some Michael Johns. she was screaming and jumping up and down and doing \m/ the whole time. which just made me like her more. uhhhh they're not really in to KLC. Beth and Andrew both tried to get Carly's attention the whole time. heh. Andrew also has a habit of "raising the roof." I assume he learned his dance moves from his brother. they also screamed really loud for Archie. omhart. :D (okay and at some point in the show they were joined by someone that I don't like to admit exists so if you really want to know, yes she was there, but that's all I'm going to say about it.)
the crowd was really in to the whole show and the reports that came out the next day about the crowd being rude to the other Idols? absolute bullshit. David was amazing as usual. he came out in a KC Chiefs jersey. after "Hello" he took off said jersey and his t-shirt rode up and he made the cutest face EVER when he tugged it back down. ugh. how so cute DC? oh there was a really cute moment where he apologized to his mom because he kept tugging at his pants. turned out that someone had stolen his belt in OKC (I still say Michael) and his pants were falling down. during the next song, a couple of belts were thrown up on stage, one that he ended up using, and one that he thought was a dog collar which was hilarious. oh David.
The Song That Shall Not Be Named was performed totally straight and there was not only no Mavid dance, but no extra dancing from anyone. it's um. really boring that way. I can't stand the song so really it's all about the performance. so when they don't do anything special it's really just a big yawnfest. oh well. other than that though the show had been fantastic.
after the show
livehead16 and I were way too wired to go up the the room so we eventually ended up in the hotel bar. I am fuzzy on the chronology at this point because hey. concert overload. oh and also beer. so at some point we see the Idols come back and walk through the lobby. there's a bunch of fangirls in the lobby which. I have problems with but. whatever. Lara and I just stay in the bar and enjoy our drinks. at some point Brooke walks by us. she stops very briefly and says hello. (I'm telling you, Brooke White FTW) Lara notices that there are a couple of security guys at the bar, including Dave who I kinda think is cute but that's really not the point. we're chatting away and I say the words that have become the slogan of the weekend, "it can't get any better than this."
the words are still floating in the air above our heads when my eyes get very large and very round. Lara calmly asks me, "who's behind me right now?" my response, "um. Michael Johns." tragically he was again a man on a mission and was really just using the bar as an escape route rather than going through the front lobby, so he didn't stop or even make eye contact with anyone as he walked through to the outside. bummer. still it was quite the little adreneline rush. also, for a brief second before he walked past us, every Mary Sue I'd ever had was about to come true. :D alas it was not to be. we chatted a little longer, Chikezie made a brief appearance. a couple of fangirls who I thought were quite rude bothered him to get an autograph. he left almost immediately after that. oh fangirls. this is why we can't have nice things.
after that Lara and I decided to call it a night. of course what that means is that we went back up to the room and talked for several hours. all and all a lovely day. not quite the amazingness of OKC, but I don't ever expect to have an experience like that again. but I got to see the BFF again and my future in-laws so I'm calling the whole thing a win. :)

oh, archie. ♥ ♥ ♥ honestly? a big part of me wishes i had braved the sun, just to be there for that moment. and i had totally forgotten about the guyliner exchange. bwah!
i'm still kicking myself for not sitting with you that night. but i would have had andrew's head and arms in my videos, which would have been the source of much amusement for the fandom but also not conducive to good video quality. LOL.
oh fangirls. this is why we can't have nice things.
trufax.

on 2008-09-07 06:41 pm (UTC)yeah. and Andrew doesn't sit still a lot so he definitely would have been all over the videos.
and seriously! like it's been all over the message boards that the Idols really consider the hotels to be their space and yet the fangirls still camp out. meh. and those girls in the bar. ugh.
