so my mom called me earlier for the sole purpose to bitch about sarah palin. and i could hear my dad in the background talking about how joe biden "wiped the fucking floor with her last night."

have i ever mentioned how much i love my parents? :D

Oh man, I wish I could have those kinds of conversations with my parents. I love them, but they're the "be a Democratic while you're young and stupid so you can grow up and be a Republican when you're financially responsible" types. Drives me BATTY.

my parents did this thing, and i'm still not quite sure how they did it, but they managed to raise my brother and i without pushing any political or religious views on us at all. they let us find our own way. it wasn't until i was an adult that i ever talked about either of those things with them. and while i'm still pretty far to the left of both of them, there's quite a lot of common ground.

Dude, I have NO idea how they did that. I don't know how people do that in general, because I cannot seem to keep my mouth shut about gay people and Palin at work. Like, telling the kids at church that gay people are not evil and that Palin IS.

I don't know how they did it either. like I still don't know what my dad's religious views are. we've just never talked about them. we're kind of a weird family. ♥

I don't talk about this stuff at work because I know most people there don't agree with me and frankly it would be easier to just bang my head against a wall.
