everyone take a deep breath.
many musical acts do tours in two (or more) legs. so yes, most of the dates for david's tour are east coast and midwest. I assume that maybe in summer or more likely fall we'll get a west coast leg of the tour. traveling all over the country, even when it's something you love is fucking tiring. I'd rather he do this in manageable steps and be awesome, then try to do everything and please everyone and be burnt out by the end.
or you know. you can continue to wail and rend your clothing. whatever works for you.

on 2009-01-23 06:07 pm (UTC)well I'm assuming that most of the people on my flist will be over it soon enough since I think they're all relatively sane. :D my mistake (as always) was wandering off to friends friends and beyond. that's where the crazy lives.

on 2009-01-23 06:25 pm (UTC)it feels like they're planning a mwk size tour rather than a david cook size tour. I feel like they're not realizing what kinda of audience they can draw, or are overwhelmed by it and just going back to what they know. idk.
oh yeah. fairs and festivals is a good call.

on 2009-01-23 06:27 pm (UTC)(of course, like I said above, it's probably just because I don't think I can go no matter where they're located so my entire attitude can pretty much be summed up as 'eh.')

on 2009-01-24 10:01 am (UTC)honestly? i'm not 100% sure i'm going to anything that's on that list we have currently. the longer it took for these dates to come out, and the more rumblings we heard about small, students-only shows, the more i've been considering just sitting this one out. idk. i have to take a hard look at the whole situation this weekend. i might take my fangirl ass to a duke game instead.
and the wailing and rending is ridic. i'm a little over fandom at the moment. :P

on 2009-01-23 06:38 pm (UTC)looks like Tulsa again (of course.) I'm actually kinda surprised there aren't more OK dates given his connection to Tulsa and such. *shrugs* the whole tour seems really odd.

on 2009-01-23 10:28 pm (UTC)I think I was just expecting at least 1, maybe 2, more cities in FL on the tour... ones that are maybe more central like Orlando or even Tampa.
*sigh*

on 2009-01-27 04:06 am (UTC)"It’s our first full tour, and we’re all ready to pour whatever blood, sweat, and tears that we can muster into making this show, and every show from here on out, an experience. Part of that experience is bringing back this college tour idea. There’s something inherently nostalgic about playing college shows. So many amazing acts used to do it, so it’s nice to be able to bring that ideal back, in some small way."
you know. I hope this tour turns out to be what he's trying for. I really do. I just don't see it happening. I think he's too big to go that far back. I guess the way to do that is limit it to students. it's just. I dunno. I get that he's looking for balance, and that he's not David Cook American Idol. I just don't know if he can really go back to being Dave, and still move forward.

yeah. I think angry was the right word. *facepalm*
oh. and while it might not be obvious through the ranting, it breaks my heart a little too.

on 2009-01-27 02:53 pm (UTC)And yet. And yet, that's exactly why I can't cut him as much slack as I want to, because, really, David? I know that you did this on a whim, but it's not like you signed up for the first season. It was a goddamned cultural juggernaut for years before he ever set foot into that audition room, and really? He had months between winning the audition and setting foot in Hollywood to get his head straight about it. For someone who said repeatedly that he was in it to win and that to be disrespectful of the process and his fellow competitors if he didn't throw everything that he had into it, I call utter bullshit on any theorizing that he didn't give serious thought to what would happen if he did win, and he's too smart to not notice how Idols who play nicely (Carrie) are rewarded, even if they're neurotic messes everywhere else, and Idols who fight (Kelly, and her high-profile scrapping with her label took place before he auditioned) are punished. I don't know when contracts are signed, but he passed his audition with reservations from the most powerful judge, I call utter bullshit that he could not have found a way to get himself out of it in Hollywood if he wanted to. I call bullshit that he didn't go into this with eyes wide open.
Yeah. I love the guy, but he's not exactly getting my unqualified support right now, either.
