so it turns out that even while our company is scrambling to cut costs, won't allow overtime and won't fill positions even though it leaves us completely understaffed, there is still plenty of money to purchase a party suite at Chase Field for last nights Diamondbacks game. and while normally I would take this moment to rail against upper management and the ill advised decisions that they make, I can't this time because I actaully got to benefit from it.

so I got 2 tickets to go to the game. I asked my co-worker D if she wanted to go and as soon as it hit 5 we were on our way to Phoenix. we got there late and missed the first two innings, but other than that it was an easy trip down to the valley.

so this was something that I had long suspected but it's still always a jolt when it's proven to be true. you will be treated better if people think you have money. basically as soon as any staff member saw that we had box tickets their attitude would change in the blink of an eye. it was really quite surreal.

I went to a couple of Dodger games when I was a kid and you know. ball parks are kind of dirty. and loud and crowded and just kind of. well. not really my scene.

the box suites? totally my scene! plush carpeted walkways. clean uncrowded hallways! staff to help you with anything you want. and the suite we were in? amazing! we could see straight down the 1st base line. there was food and soda and dessert and generally it was a lot of fun. and strangely enough, they were playing the Dodgers. the game was a bit lopsided (9-4 although not as bad as the 11-2 asswhipping that the Dodgers handed back to them today) but still really fun. D and I amused ourselves halfway through by quoting the vampire!baseball portion of Twilight.

got home kind of ridiculously late and then slept a lot today. which just means that I am now VERY AWAKE. some weekend I will not completely throw off my sleep patterns. this is not that weekend.

second, yay expensive baseball seats! and you're right, ppl do treat you better when the seats are more expensive. my favorite thing, though, will still always be that moment when the person realizes that you really do belong wherever it is. heh.

wanna hear something totally bizarre? the last two weekends, i've woken up earlier than i do during the week. i think it has to do with not dreading the day. :P
