a devil put aside for me
May. 24th, 2009 10:11 pmI spent today at the movie theater, watching first Terminator Salvation and then back to see Star Trek again, for I decided that it would be Anton Yelchin Film Fest day. \o/
First of all Terminator Salvation is BADASS. I really enjoyed it. Sam Worthington and Anton Yelchin were excellent and Christian Bale didn't make me want to punch him in the face. oh Bale. once upon a time I adored you. what happened bb? anyway. Moon Bloodgood was also totally kick ass and I didn't even realize that was Bryce Dallas Howard until I watched the credits. !!!
so unless the words "Merchant" and "Ivory" are present, I should just always assume that Helena Bonham Carter is vaguely evil yeah? or at the very least, extremely fucked up. must remember.
so yeah Sam Worthington. he's a pretty good actor and holy hot as hell. AND. will be Perseus in the remake of Clash of the Titans! this makes me so happy I could puke! guys I don't think I've ever discussed my deep and abiding love for Clash of the Titans here, but it is one of the greatest movies ever and don't even try to convince me otherwise. ♥ (also Mads Mikkelsen is in it. WIN.)
predictably I loved Anton as Kyle Reese. I've seen other people mention it and I completely agree but there were moments where he looked like he could be related to Thomas Dekker. good job casting department. I loved the combo of street smarts and naivete. his utter belief that they could stay alive. and also how long were he and Star living alone in LA before Marcus came along? because oh that dear sweet Kyle was so ready to have someone to follow. in the same way we know that he will follow John Connor later on. ugh movie ilu.
I really like that they didn't explain the relationships. like there's Kate totally preggers and you aren't really told who she is. I only have the vaguest of memories of T3 so I knew on some level who she was, but really appreciated that their relationship was just there and they didn't waste anytime on it. because really I just wanted more about Kyle and Marcus anyway. \o/
so Star Trek was just as good the second time in the theater. I've been pretty consistently watching a file of questionable origin but man this is one of those movies that definitely needs to be seen at least once on the big screen. I'm still in love with Bones. Bones is still in love with Kirk. and Kirk is still in love with everyone, including himself. as well he should be. Chekov is still my jailbait boyfriend, Sulu is still adorable and badass at the same time and Scotty still makes me giggle like a loon. Uhura is NOT a Mary Sue and I still fall madly in love with Spock when he says"fuck off and die" "live long and prosper."
Kirk/precarious ledges otp. also Kirk gets choked almost as much as Sam Winchester. but I think he bruises prettier. WHAT.
I noticed the tribble this time! eeeeeeeeeeeeee.
I sort of just wish I could crawl inside this movie and stow away on the Enterprise.
and now fic rec: McCoy's Hands by
seren_ccd written for the McCoy-a-thon (which everyone should still participate in. there can never be too much McCoy! plus there's a cross dressing prompt that I'm DYING for someone to take) ANYWAY. this is McCoy/Christine Chapel and it's MADE OF AWESOME.
