saw both Star Trek and Up today. Up is so so good and some day Pixar will make a movie that I don't cry through half of it. today was so not that day however.

Star Trek is still completely awesome. saw it with friend D who has only the vaguest knowledge of the show. like she recognized "damnit I'm a doctor, not a *fill in the blank*" and some of the other well known lines, but other than that she's clueless. but I knew she would be completely in love with Chris Pine from the word go so I was pretty sure she'd enjoy it. and um enjoy it she did. at least I assume so since for about an hour after the movie she could only talk about his mouth. not that I blame her.

today was just nice. it feels like its been a while since I've had that. so now I think I'm going to make some tea and read some fic and just. be. g'night y'all.

oooh, yes! Mary and I went to see Up! today and, gah. So lovely and so heartbreaking. Luckily, we saw it in 3D, so our tears were well-hidden behind the glasses. XD

seriously I cried so much! I couldn't help it. near the beginning right after Ellie dies and he's sitting at her funeral holding the balloon? or how he would put his hand over her hand print when he checked the mail? GAH. and that's not even getting into the stuff with Russell. such a sweet sweet movie.

(also fucking funny. Doug killed me. all the dogs did really. ♥)

Pixar owns my soul. I got a bit misty in the short animation before the movie, and I was a mess by the end of the introduction/background sequence.

I know next to nothing about Star Trek, watched it because of Karl (and how he said this movie is great introduction), and I loved it. Made me want to find out more about the original series it self.

yeah the short before the movie was adorable. (except I have a near-pathological fear of sharks so even the cloud shape of one made me flinch. am so very lame.) and the whole intro sequence was amazing. oh Pixar. ♥

I had watched bits of the original series when I was a kid, but don't remember it very well at all. I've been going back and watching the episodes and I've got to say it's actually a pretty good show. I know everyone makes fun of Shatner's acting (and rightfully so) but it doesn't detract from the rest of the show.
