That is one of my all time favorite movies EVER. I love it so much and it is infinitely quoteable - I use so many quotes from that film in daily life (not that ANYONE picks up on them!!) I say "in-undo" instead of "inuendo" and often describe yummy men as "making my insteps melt." I've been known to say that "alcohol is the great leveler; it makes you my equal," and inquire, "where is my wandering parakeet?" And I love, love, love... "Put me in your pocket, Mike." So many quotes, so many. I have so much love for that movie. Cheers to you for loving it also!!! *virtual hugs of sympatico movieness* I need an icon from that film. I must admit to shipping Mike and Tracy hard, but that is probably because I was so young (sixteen) when I first saw it and didn't recognize their fling for what it really was.

oh man. this movie. there is so much to love. I think one of my favorite bits is "I would sell my grandmother for a drink *beat* and you know how I love my grandmother" god it cracks me up EVERY SINGLE TIME. frankly I'm just totally smitten with Jimmy Stewart. although I never really shipped Mike and Tracy. I think mostly because I identified with Liz something fierce.

As a teen I wanted Mike and the glamourous Tracy together; as an adult, I empathize with Liz, much, much more!! (though I don't think I'd have put up with all that she did. Oh, who am I kidding, I've probably put up with worse - just not with as much grace). I adore J. Stewart in this one and, after seeing it for the first time, sought out many, many more of his films. While I enjoy the Frank Capra movies, his characters in them are a bit too gormless and sappy and entirely lack the cutting edge and sarcastic humour that make Mike Conner so very... very. So, I guess I'm more in love with that particular character than the man himself (who, from everything I saw, more resembled the Capra characters IRL). Trivia: My second film paper in college (film major) was about this movie! (My first was about "Brazil.")
