please if you somehow haven't seen these links, take a few minutes and read them (warning: if you value your sanity, maybe skip the comments on the first one.) somewhere along the line it seems like many fen have gotten the idea that if an issue doesn't immediately hit them where they live, that it's something they can ignore or dismiss. this is, to put it simply, absolute bullshit. if I were to say the only issues that matter are ones that affect me as a white, middle class, bisexual woman... god. just writing that gives me hives. obviously that is stupid. so I guess I'm just saying to stop and think. and listen. never underestimate the power of just listening.

and now because it's possible to talk about important matters AND squee about the media (MADNESS I KNOW!) I'm going to babble. all thoughts are totally out of order because I tend to watch first and then try to remember the shit that happens. you can imagine how well that works.
- DUDE. YOU ARE TOO INTENSE. DIAL THAT SHIT DOWN. why are vampires so damn angsty? where's the fun?
- okay so I haven't read the books so I don't know how badly they're butchering this. but I think I like it? definite potential.
- liked that faux!psychic friend turned out to be real!psychic friend.
- are they killing off the "slut"? BECAUSE FUCK YOU CW!
- oh okay. she's alive. STILL.
- I also kind of like emo druggie little brother. like that seems much more like a true response to having both your parents die. but then I guess Elena wouldn't be the super special princess if she wasn't handling it all by writing in her diary. whatevs.
- OH IAN SOMERHALDER! there's the fun! ♥
- also, asshole history teacher? yeah. I voting for your death dude.
- I really like the music in this.
- overall fairly enjoyable. will defintely tune in again.

- oh man the whole beginning sequence was so confusing! but the view of Lucifer rising from the airplane was COOL. although I'm sure Dean didn't think so.

[side note: I'm sure just like last season there will be cries of 'waaaaah they're making fun of fandom!' to which I say SO WHAT. why do you care what the writers of a television show think of fandom? are we all like that? of course not. but I'm certainly not going to spend my time worrying that someone I don't know has the wrong idea about me. I've got real to shit worry about!]

so work was unbelievably bad today. I'm basically in trouble for something I don't remember doing about a year and a half ago. YEAH. I mean, I can accept that I fucked up. what I'm having trouble with is the use of degradation and shame as tactics to get me to... I don't even know what they want from me at this point. but whatever. I'm just going to go do my job and go home each day and collect my check every two weeks.
of course the shitty day has strengthened my resolve to drive back down to Phoenix this weekend to either see Star Trek again, or go see Chris Pine shoot things in Carriers. MAYBE BOTH. <3
