OMG THEY BROKE HOTCH.

Every. single. time. he was asked if he was okay he deflected the question. Even when Jack asked it! I just. HOOOOOOOOTCH!

also, I think Emily is in love with him. I just. the way she looked at him. (I am fully aware that I may be projecting on to Emily.)

Dude, I totally think Emily has a thing for Hotch. I've thought so for a while but the way that she looked at him last night cemented it.

Also, REID!! Good job, show. That was an excellent way to work his crutches into the show. Much better than JPad getting his arm broken by a slip of a girl half his size.

I am still so, so stunned that they actually went there. Rape of women is so--casual on television, and rape of men (metaphorical or otherwise) never happens, and yet this show has gone there and shown the fall-out with every single one of their young, attractive male leads. That's...insane, and awesome, and I fucking love this show.

I know! when Foyet made the comment about how they profile that unsubs that use a knife are impotent and how were they going to profile this I sat there literally slack jawed because SHOW. I really can't wait to see how they handle this season because they've already set up a hell of a lot just in the first episode.

also, I'm wondering if that framing shot of Morgan, JJ and Emily in the hospital window was some kind of visual clue to them taking the lead for at least the first part of the season. or that could be me wishful thinking at the show but I was really excited to see JJ with a gun going into Haley's house (and also excited to see that Hotch gave Haley the house and went and got an apartment. canon details make me happy.)

I think that you're onto something with the framing. Rossi, much as I have grown to respect him, is not quite one of Hotch's people in the way that Reid, JJ, Emily, and Derek are. Hotch is not protective of him in the same way. The team turning around and giving back to Hotch by helping him heal physically and spiritually would be a wonderful way to turn about how Hotch has been protecting them for the previous four years. (And given how much Hotch had Reid's back when Reid was just beginning his recovery, it would be slightly wrong for Spencer not to be a part of that, but it would be reaaaaalllly weird for him to be sitting down yet again for that scene.)
