am watching PotC: At World's End and even though I have watched it many times I am STILL ANGRY that Norrington dies. SO SO ANGRY. in my personal canon he follows Elizabeth, survives, and stays with her at the request of Will so she won't be alone. and so there's all this angst and thinking he is second best, always second best, even though Elizabeth does come to love him. and there are visits from Jack and of course the visits from Will and really I always was OT4 about these movies.

last night I went to a party at my friend's house and then we all went to see Harry Potter. it was a theme party so I went dressed as Tonks. there was a mix of ages as my friend has teenage sisters who had their friends as well. there was another Tonks there around 17 or 18 who looked at my (super cute) pink wig and said "oh I dyed my hair pink tonight." I smiled and did not say what was in my head which was "that's nice, I'm an adult and have a job." also later when I made my costume change and came back out into the room in a new outfit and in my blue wig it was a big hit. try that with your dyed pink hair. (also I forgot what it's like to be around a bunch of girls who think it's ok to call Ginny a whore. SIGH)

anyway. the movie!

- things are a little tense at Malfoy Manor! oh Draco. you poor scared little boy. I guess that could go for your dad as well. (I await your mother's moment of awesome in the next movie.)
- awwww they left out the bit where Harry and Dudley kind of reconcile.
- multiple Harry Potters! "Look away. I'm hideous!" AHAHAHAHAHAHA. also Bill and Fleur!Harry on the thestral? totally badass!
- so so glad they left the "saint-like" joke in. TWINS! <3 (also damn those boys have gotten good looking.)
- I didn't cry when Hedwig died. (I might have gotten a little choked up however.)
- the camping scenes weren't nearly as painful as I remember them being in the book. and the scene where Harry and Hermione dance was so cute and sweet.
- and Ron saves the day! <3
- my beloved Neville was barely in the movie but for the few seconds he was there he was totally AWESOME. (oh how I hope they don't destory his story in the next movie.)
- seriously I hate Dobby from the moment he first shows up in book 2 and then his death is the one that makes me sob like crazy.
- god the scenes in Godric's Hollow were all so good. and the tension at knowing that Bathilda Bagshot is not all she seems was crazy. although thankfully the reveal was not nearly as disturbing as it is in the book. hooray for pg-13.
- the tale of the 3 brothers was AMAZING. the animation was gorgeous.
- the ending was frustrating, but then I knew it would be.

IS IT TIME FOR THE NEXT MOVIE YET?

edit: we got trailers for Tron Legacy, Green Lantern, Cowboys & Aliens, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader and Red Riding Hood. it was like they decided to show trailers for all the movies I want to see. I think Cowboys & Aliens got the best response from the crowd.

- Man, what happened to the Malfoys? Lucius' such a wuss now. where's his dignity?! I know he's written like that in the book, but ya, such a contrast to how he was earlier.
- Loved the multiple Harrys scene.
- It's been so long since I "read" (listened on audiobook) the book that I forgotten Hedwig died so early. I think I was too shocked to feel sad. Same with Dobby. I forgot about the Bathilda Bagshot thing too, scared me half to death.
- I think they did well with pacing the movie, 'cause ya, the camping thing was way too long for me in the book.
- Loved the Deathly Hallows animation sequence as well.

I would watch a whole movie about the slow downward spiral of the House of Malfoy. THINGS DO NOT GO AS THEY PLANNED. part of me wants reread the books before the next movie comes out... but I kind of liked not knowing everything that was coming.

the camping scenes weren't nearly as painful as I remember them being in the book. I actually felt like the movie fixed some of the pacing problems of the book without lessening the impact of the whole out on their own, teenage angst/jealousy craziness. When I read DH, I have to skim that whole section, it drags so badly.
Neville! so needed more Neville!
Dobby's death had no real impact on me in the book, but during the movie I definitely got weepy.
the tale of the 3 brothers was AMAZING. the animation was gorgeous. I was really impressed by that, I wish there was more of it! It reminded me of how pretty some of the old-school Disney stuff could be at times.
The whole movie made me really nostalgic for being involved in HP fandom, especially because I had to go to the midnight show by myself. Still had a great time, though. I can't wait to see it again!

I know what you mean about feeling nostalgic for HP fandom. I kind of want to read fic but it's so overwhelming. there's just so much!

Neville! so needed more Neville!

that's pretty much my feeling on the entire series. <3

I definitely need to go see it again.
