heeee. I've seen a lot of stuff recced in different fandoms lately and it's all "blah blah great story blah blah amazing characters blah blah best story ever... oh and here's the link to ff.net" and my general reaction is "BUT THAT'S WHERE THE CRAP LIVES!"

I feel the same. I do feel guilty about it! It's not that I've never seen anything decent there, it's just--the volume of badfic is overwhelming, and the garbage there gets just as much glowing praise as anything else.

(My dark confession of horrible-personhood is that, when I see someone reccing a whole bunch of fic from ff.net, my first thought isn't, "Oh, maybe there's some good fic there!" It's "Reccer, I question your taste level." Augh I am a terrible person!)

I don't even know but I keep seeing recs for fic and I click thinking "yay new story!" and then I see that I'm at ff.net and can't close the window fast enough. I didn't know if I was somehow just that far out of the loop. GOOD TO KNOW I AM JUSTIFIED IN MY SNOBBERY! \o/

it was a rec. and I've noticed several of them in the last few months over several different fandoms and I thought maybe I'd fallen into an alternate universe where ff.net was somehow now acceptable.
