- I was going to whine about missing American Idol because I had to go to my anatomy class (98% on my test GO ME!) but I have the internets so it doesn't really matter.
- Clint: "Superstition" I don't think it's any secret that this is one of my favorite songs ever. I didn't like it at the beginning, too karaoke (which HI. he's a karaoke host) but then I think he really settled into it. nice start.
- Jovany: "I'll Be" hmmmm. the thing about this song is that it's not enough to sing it well, which he is doing. there has to be emotion behind it. and I'm just not feeling it here. the original can bring me to tears and I can think of a few singers that could bring the right amount of umph to it. (yes I'm thinking of David Cook. that's pretty much a given.)
Jordan: "OMG" um. what just happened. I know he's a much better singer than this. contemporary does not equal relevant. the judges comments are right on here. and if it's not you, WHY DID YOU PICK THE SONG?
Tim: "Streetcorner Symphony" something about it just didn't click. again, technically the singing was fine but just kind of boring. which bums me out because I loved him during hollywood week.
Brett: "Light My Fire" you know I'm going to compare this to Michael Johns right? (I don't bother comparing to Jim Morrison because really.) anyway I just don't feel it. it's like Jovany. I just don't feel like the song is coming from inside of him. hair tossing =/= performance. although apparently the judges liked him a lot more than I did.
Robbie: "Angel" okay I think he is adorbs. iiiinteresting song choice. but oh some pitch problems too. also the way they've cut up the song to fit the time constraint is just odd. I think I like what he's trying to do with the song, I just don't think he pulled it off. BUT. he had that emotional connection that was lacking with some of the previous contestants.
James: "You've Got Another Thing Coming" I wish people would stop comparing him to Adam. just because he goes for the notes. I mean hi. he's doing Judas Priest. the song requires those notes. I know it's hard to believe, but Adam Lambert is not the first person to sing like that. (and I say this as someone who lurves Adam) anyway. I thought that was awesome. perfect song choice and great performance. also ahahha he looks like a GIANT next to Ryan (not that this is difficult.)
Scotty: "Letters from Home" I don't know. I mean yes, he's a good country singer. I just. really don't like country. (or well. some of it I do. just not this particular flavor.) but yeah. technically good, and right emotion. although good point Randy. no crossover pop country. ick.
Stefano: "Just the Way You Are" hmmm. like Clint I think the beginning was crap but he settled into it. still a little too karaoke for me.
Paul: "Maggie May" he is so my favorite. please don't turn out to be a douchebag dude. his voice reminds me of someone... which I'm sure will come to me eventually. anyway. ♥
Jacob: "A House is not a Home" his voice is pretty great. and I'm just going to go ahead and point out that before Glee there would have been too many people going 'what is this song' (I'm talking about the general Idol audience here.) he's clearly a great singer. THAT SAID. he is not my favorite. I've only heard him sing these more "classic" songs. I think need to hear something a little more contemporary.
Casey: "I Put A Spell On You" he's awesome. he's just right behind Paul for me. also adorbs.
I think Jovany, Jordan, Tim and Stefano are in danger.
oh wait. I just figured out how this is working. voters are cutting the 12 down to 5! and then the judges get to let a few wild cards in. um. ok crap. here is what I want to see but doubt I will get. Top 5 - Paul, Casey, James, Robbie, and Jacob. with Tim and/or Brett getting in from the judges. however I know that Scotty will get through because god hates me (and likes country.)
