like arms of dazzling gold
Nov. 3rd, 2011 10:15 pm- I just made a delicious dinner of fried rice with crab, pineapple and broccoli. mmmmmm my tummy is happy.
- so I love the new Snow Patrol song "Called Out in the Dark" but oh god I may love the video even more. JACK DAVENPORT PLEASE TO BE IN EVERYTHING EVER. plus the song contains the line "this magic this drunken semaphore" and I just like it. ♥ (also I really like the female couple dancing at the end.)

I know there are people out there who don't like Gaila and all I can figure is that they hate joy. we get two scenes of her in the movie and in both she's painfully adorable. (I don't count any of the deleted scenes, mostly because I've never watched them.) I assume her great sin is that she likes sex. terrible. doesn't she know that she's on Earth now and that she needs to control that shit. no self respecting woman actually enjoys sex. that's just ridiculous. yeah I feel sick just typing all that out. even if we discount the fact that she is in fact an Orion and that they view sex differently than humans... IT'S THE DAMN FUTURE. ARE WE REALLY STILL HOLDING ON TO THE SAME OLD TIRED GENDER ROLES OF MEN GET TO HAVE ALL THE SEX THEY WANT AND WOMEN WHO DO ARE SLUTS AND WHORES? *siiiiiigh*
ANYWAY. Gaila has taken on a life of her own in fandom. which is fantastic since the movie left her fate unknown. (SHE'S ALIVE SHE HAS TO BE!) there is so much good fic out there with Gaila. I heartily suggest that everyone checks out
where_no_woman where you can find tons of good Gaila fic. (and all the other awesome Star Trek ladies.)

Gaila: Oh, no, my roommate.
Jim: I thought you said she was gone for the night.
Gaila: Obviously she's not, quick, you gotta... just get under the bed.
Jim: Under...?
Gaila: Look, just get under the bed. She can't see you here.
Jim: Why not?
Gaila: Because I promised her I'd stop bringing guys back to the dorm.
Jim: Well how... how many guys have y...?
Gaila: Just d... just down.

Gaila glances at Spock, a look of exaggerated disbelief, then back at the Vulcans in front of her. She slaps the transporter with the flat of her hand, and all eyes snap to her instantly. "Okay," she says, "I get it. He's half human, and you don't like it. And he turned down the Vulcan Science Academy, and he told the Council of Elders to fuck off. And he's not here impregnating your women, not that you ever wanted him to before. But could you guys just get over it already? It's been eight years. I can't believe you don't have something new to be scandalized about." - The Orion-On-Vulcan Method byanodyna
